On Saturday May 10th, IChF participated in the 28th edition of the Science Picnic—one of the largest and longest-standing popular science events in Europe. Hosted at the National Stadium in Warsaw, this year’s edition gathered more than 160 scientific institutions and welcomed over 40,000 visitors throughout the day.

IChF’s stand was located in the “Cult Experiments Zone” and featured five diverse demonstrations: the Sugihara cylinder illusion and mirror symmetry, microfluidics in action, milk surface tension and polymer cross-linking, the Coherer effect, and a cryogenic show with liquid nitrogen and dry ice. Each experiment was carefully selected to inspire curiosity and engage audiences of all ages—from preschoolers to adults—with scientific concepts presented in accessible and interactive ways.

Fifteen dedicated volunteers from the Institute ensured smooth presentations throughout the day, despite unfavorable weather conditions. Their commitment, creativity, and patience were key to the event’s success.

We extend sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to preparing and running the stand. Events like the Science Picnic remind us of the importance of dialogue between science and society—and the value of showing chemistry in motion.
