TEAM 26: SEMICONDUCTING MATERIALS AND OPTOELECTRONIC DEVICES INSITUTE OF PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY PAS
NATIONAL SCIENCE CENTRE
Project title, type and project number
National Science Center Opus 20 Project No. 2020/39/B/ST5/01497 entitled “Probing the structure–property relationships in single-crystalline lead halide perovskites for photodetector applications”, 23/2021
Project leader
Dr hab. inż. Daniel Prochowicz
Description
While the field of perovskite-based optoelectronics has been dominated by photovoltaic solar cells, remarkable properties of lead halide perovskites such as high absorption coefficients, long carrier diffusion lengths and facile solution processability make them also interesting candidates for innovative and disruptive applications in photodetection. The vast research studies reported perovskite optoelectronic devices are based on polycrystalline thin films. In turn, perovskite single crystals have been found to exhibit better intrinsic optoelectronic properties compared with polycrystalline thin films, highlighting their importance in the development of advanced optoelectronic devices.
The main goal of this project is to probe the relationship between the structure and composition of the perovskite absorber layer and its charge transport properties to understand the physical processes that determine the photoresponse of perovskite single-crystals based photodetector under working conditions. More attention will be put on the structural and optical characterizations and analysis of defect density, ion motions and activation energy levels in single-crystalline perovskites with the help of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy under different conditions of light and temperature.
