Doctoral seminar in Dornburg within the framework of our partnership with Leibnitz-IPHT

As part of the established strategic partnership with the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology (Leibniz-IPHT, Jena, Germany), the first concrete effects of cooperation took place already in 2024. On March 18-21, 2024, a group of PhD students from our Institute took part in the Dornburg Seminar at the invitation of the organizer, Leibniz-IPHT.

During this 4-day training, our delegation had the opportunity to present their research to a wide and multidisciplinary audience, practice a 1-minute presentation, participate in poster sessions, talk to scientific directors, listen to speeches by external experts, and network with other students from different departments.

Our PhD students: Mateusz Pielach, Vishnu Anilkumar, Ariba Aziz, Karthika Kappalakandy Valapil, Shreyas Kandhadai Vasantham, Sylwia Berus, Piotr Węgrzyn and Tomasz Bednarek gave lectures in Dornburg.

Here are the posters presented by our representatives in Dornburg:

Oliwia Kaczkoś: "Two-photon vision and its contrast sensitivity function"

Aneta Karpińska: "Application of fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) to assess cellular uptake and intracellular interactions of drugs and drug delivery systems"

Cassia Corso Silva: "Tunable light source based on four-wave mixing for SRS imaging"

Sanat Kumar Mahankudo: "Photophysics of atomically precise gold nanoclusters"

Katarzyna Wielondek: "Preparation and characterization of electrocatalytically active Ni(OH)2 nanostructures embedded in poly (salen) matrices"

Bartosz Kamiński: "Antiviruses based on nanotechnology - fighting infections caused by bacteriophages"

Enkhlin Ochirbat: "Bacteria detection based on bacteriophages"

Patryk Pyrcz: "Femtosecond stimulated Raman spectroscopy with surface enhancement".

As part of the seminar, our team also had the opportunity to visit the laboratories of the Leibniz-IPHT in Jena.

We are convinced that the skills acquired during the seminar will further enrich the research paths of our PhD students. The delegates brought with them new knowledge, skills, experiences, acquaintances and inspirations, as well as an important distinction. Mateusz Pielach received the award for the best presentation at the seminar, after a careful selection process that included both the PIs and the participants. Here's what the winner said about receiving this distinction:

“I am happy to announce that my lecture entitled "Ultrafast all-fiber laser oscillators with semi-linear cavities" won the competition for the best presentation. I am extremely grateful to the people who contributed to the creation of this work: Agnieszka Jamrozik, Katarzyna Krupa, Yuriy Stepanenko and the entire team from the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Congratulations to the other winners: Sobhi Saeed - ex aequo 1st place and Mohammadhossein Khosravi - 3rd place.”

We congratulate Mateusz Pielach on receiving this distinction.

The joint participation of PhD students from the IPC, including representatives of ICTER (International Centre for Translational Eye Research) and a team from Leibniz-IPHT in the Dornburg Seminar is another step in the development of the strategic partnership between our institutions, initiated in 2023.

We sincerely congratulate the organizers of the Dornburg Seminar from Leibniz-IPHT on a successful training course and thank them for the wonderful reception of the Polish team.
