Offer no. 8/10

Method for modification of carbon nanotubes, especially polyhedral

  • Summary:

The invention presents a method of modification of carbon nanotubes, particularly multiwalled nanotubes. The essence of this method involves the preliminary oxidation of the nanotubes through the incadescing solid nanotubes in the air inside a vessel of adjustable volume and maintaining temperature in the range of 500-700 ° C. Heating is pereformed for 2 to 15 min inside a microwave owen of frequency from 50 MHz to 200 GHz and a power of 100 W to 2000 W. Then the incandescent carbon nanotubes are additionally oxidized by introducing them into either a cooling or cooling-oxidizing liquid medium followed by placing the suspension for about 10 minutes in an ultrasonic bath. The thoroughly disperssed suspension of the oxidized carbon nanotubes is filtered or centrifuged, washed then dried until the fine powder of the final product results.
