Description

The proposed project focuses on development of theoretical tools and concepts to be used in the growing field of cooperative catalysis. Successful candidate will develop an analytical model that provides embedding potential in quantum-chemical calculations to describe chemical transformations at metallic surfaces.

From our experience the background in physics would be appropriate. However, applicants with other backgrounds will be also considered based on the possible input to the project (e.g. chemists).

Key responsibilities include

  • Developing analytical model of interactions between dipoles and metallic surfaces
  • Carrying out computational simulations under the supervision, maintaining regular research notes.
  • Presenting at group meetings and conferences.
  • Contribution to the efficient functioning of the lab including necessary organizational tasks.

We offer

We offer 1200 PLN per month stipend financed from the NSC Sonata Bis 8 Project No. UMO- 2018/30/E/ST4/00004. The position is for a period of 8 months.

Career development prospects at IPC PAS

The successful candidate will be part of a highly experienced, multi-disciplinary team. He/She will have the possibility to broaden his/her knowledge and gain hands-on experience at the border between theory and experiment. Funds are allocated to cover participation in international conferences and for short visits in collaborating laboratories. Institute provides opportunity to participate in ERASMUS + programme.

First Stage Researcher (R1)

Requirements

  • At the starting date of the work within the project, applicants should be a student of intramural or extramural second degree studies, conducted in universities on Polish territory or should be a student of at least the fourth year of intramural or extramural uniform master’s studies carried out at universities in the Republic of Poland
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a group.
  • Good background in physical chemistry.
  • Knowledge of at least one scripting/programming language will be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in English speaking and writing.

Key assessment criteria

When assessing an application, the committee takes into account:

  • competences of candidates for specific tasks in a research project,
  • previous scientific achievements of candidates including publications in scientific journals,
  • awards resulting from conducting scientific research, scholarships, awards and scientific experience gained outside the parent research unit in the country or abroad, workshops and scientific training, participation in research projects

  • The best candidates who meet the Competition requirements will be invited for an online interview. The interview will take place on 29.11.2021

  • The commission evaluates applications on a point scale. The scholarship will be awarded to the person who obtains the highest number of points.
  • The results of the competition are made public.
  • If the top candidate does not sign the contract due to the resignation, we reserve the right to choose the next candidate from the ranking list.
