About Us

• The Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences is a leading research unit in Poland. Founded in 1955, it boasts the highest scientific category awarded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (A+). The Institute has the right to use the "HR Excellence in Research" logo, which confirms the highest standards in recruiting scientists and supports their career development and the social involvement of employees.

• Research teams operating at the Institute work on issues at the intersection of chemistry, physics and biology. The openness and interdisciplinarity of the Institute allow for conducting basic research as well as applied research, which is confirmed by spin-off companies that were established based on the discoveries and inventions of the Institute's employees. Each year, the Institute's employees publish over 200 scientific publications (including in such prestigious journals as Nature and Science) and are also the authors of many patents. IChF PAN educates young scientific staff through two doctoral schools and a wide range of scholarships for first- and second-cycle students.

• The Institute promotes scientific excellence. Together with IOCB in Prague, it awards a unique prize every two years, the Dream Chemistry Award (DCA). As part of the DCA, IChF PAN also organizes lectures from the Dream Chemistry Lecture series, during which young scientists worldwide can share their knowledge with scientists from the Warsaw scientific community.
