Project description

Project title, type and project number

OPUS 27 Project no UMO/2024/53/B/ST4/01997 „Weaving polymers for efficient oxygen electrocatalysis”, 15/2025

Project leader

Prof. dr hab. Marcin Opałło

Description

The project is focused on application of hypercrosslinked polymers as catalyst of oxygen electrode reactions (ORR and OER). A series of three-dimensional, heteroatom abundant three dimensional network with hierarchical pores having strong affinity towards oxygen will be prepared in a form of particles by copolymerization with solvents employed as a reaction medium as well as a crosslinker to produce polymer particles. Most promising materials will be also synthesized in the presence of selected carbon nanomaterials. Their electrocatalytic activity of the synthesized HCPs at solid|liquid and liquid|liquid interface will be evaluated by electrochemical techniques including rotating ring disc electrode and scanning electrochemical microscopy. The effect of various features of polymers on their electrocatalytic actvity will be analysed and compared with results of quantum chemical calculations focused on oxygen interactions with elements of polymer network.
