Research topics
The group works on developing research methodology using sensor arrays, including electronic tongues and using multi-sensor systems coupled with machine learning for the analysis of complex samples, such as cell cultures.
Multivariate data analysis is necessary to take advantage of the interdependence of the signal coming from multiple sensors and/or measurement techniques, as well as the information hidden in the background and noise. Like our sense of taste, electronic tongues combine the output from a range of sensors and teach themselves using ML algorithms just as our brain does.
Sensor arrays group has expertise in the development of electrochemical sensors and biosensors, ion-transfer voltammetry at the interface of two immiscible solutions (ITIES), low-cost systems including paper-based devices, microfluidics, electronic tongues, and multivariate data analysis.
