The Agilent Technologies (Englewood CO, USA) 8712E RF network analyzer together with the dedicated VEE software allow the simultaneous measurement by electromechanical impedance in reflection mode of viscoelastic effects and mass changes in solution of layers deposited on quartz resonators. These studies allow for the separation of effects of mass changes from the viscoelastic changed occurring in layers before, after or during electrochemical processes, if the analyzer operates in combination with an electrochemical assembly such as Autolab.
