The Institute of Physical Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences, is seeking an experienced researcher in the field of quantum chemistry for the position of Associate Professor. The successful candidate will conduct research within the scope of Research Group 20, with a particular focus on the development of quantum chemistry methods for the description of excited states in organic systems, while actively securing competitive research funding and contributing to the training and supervision of early-career researchers and students. The appointed researcher will work closely with experienced members of the group and play an active role in mentoring the next generation of scientists.

Remuneration: statutory salary, funded by a statutory grant from the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IChF PAN), plus benefits in the form of a healthcare package, financial support for holidays, leisure, tourism, cultural, educational and sporting activities, and the opportunity to participate in the Erasmus+ programme.

• A university degree in chemistry, together with a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in chemical sciences, in the discipline of chemistry;

• Required qualifications: (1) at least 7 years’ experience in quantum chemistry, particularly in the development of computational methods; (2) at least two years’ experience working at an institution other than the candidate’s doctoral-awarding body;

• Experience in leading a research project awarded through a competitive process, the completion date of which falls after the date of the call for applications or which was completed no more than one year prior to the date of the call for applications. This period may be extended by the duration of any long-term (over 90 days) documented sick leave or rehabilitation benefits due to incapacity for work. In addition, this period may be extended by the number of months spent on leave for the care and upbringing of children, granted in accordance with the provisions of the Labour Code, and in the case of women – for example, by 18 months for each child born or adopted, if this method of accounting for breaks in the research career is more favourable to the female candidate;

• Experience in the supervision of at least one PhD candidate.

• Creativity, as demonstrated by the quality and quantity of scientific publications in the fields of homogeneous catalysis and synthetic methodology development, in which the candidate is the first author, corresponding author, or a major contributing author;
• Research mobility, demonstrated through research stays, changes in research profile, and collaboration with international research institutions;
• Number of citations of the candidate’s publications, with particular emphasis on those in which the candidate is the first author, corresponding author, or a major contributing author;
• Creativity, as demonstrated by the quality and number of research projects led and the publications resulting from those projects;
• Reference letter provided by an independent senior researcher with expertise in quantum chemistry.
