Description

The International Center for Translational Eye Research (ICTER) is a multi-investigator center for eye research as related to imaging and biochemical techniques to support advances in understanding the etiology and treatment of human blinding diseases. Further information on the research priorities and current expertise of our Center can be found at http://www.icter.pl.

The Institute seeks applicants with a PhD degree, and experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, or structural biology. Candidates should be interested in structural biology.

The Postdoctoral fellows will have a direct impact on lab development and its success in publishing in high impact factor journals. The person will be also responsible for performing dynamic research to create a competitive research group. The positions will be assigned to the Pharmacology Group led by Dr. Humberto Fernandes, focused on elucidating the mechanisms of vision at an atomic and molecular level, with the ultimate goal to help developing therapeutics for the treatment of eye disorder(s), help prevent, or at least delaying, the onset of eye diseases.

Key responsibilities include

  1. Decision-making regarding current R&D operations
  2. Handling grants run by the group leader
  3. Coordination of regular events agenda (seminars, reading meetings, invited papers)
  4. Assist the group & PI with any language barriers and support foreigners on their relocations and establishment into Warsaw, visa process and other paperwork involved
  5. Edition of scientific texts and graphics for publications
  6. Active participation in the creation of grant applications
  7. Active participation in reporting and HR procedures
  8. Creation of R&D documentation
  9. Coordination of regulatory issues (ethics committee approvals, equipment safety and efficacy, due diligence documentation)
  10. Handling bibliographic databases (e.g. EndNote)
  11. Supervision over software licenses
  12. Content management of Laboratory website
  13. Coordination of OHS procedure for staff to follow

Requirements

Requirements

  1. Several years of proven experience in Key responsibilities.
  2. Documented work experience in grant management and knowledge of funding opportunities at the local/national/EU-international levels.
  3. PhD in biological sciences or related fields will be an added advantage.
  4. Good interpersonal skills and collaborative attitude.
  5. Direct experience with management and coordination of scientific research, public tenders and equipment procurement especially in public Polish research institutions, etc.
  6. Ability to work in an international and interdisciplinary team and manage projects and people.
  7. Proficiency in English (at least C1), both spoken and written.
  8. Proactive, organized, with good time management.
  9. MS Office (additional skills in project management tools like Trello, database management, collaborative online workspaces (Teams/Sharepoint) and Cloud storage (OneDrive) is an asset)
