Project description

Project title, type and project number

Novel nanocatalysts in the continuous - flow selective hydrogenation processes towards formation of pharmaceutical intermediates OPUS17 2019/33/B/ST5/01271, 21/2021

Project leader

Anna Śrębowata, PhD, DSc

Description

OPUS 17's research strategy focuses on developing new 3d transition metal catalysts (Co, Cu, Ni, Fe) for hydrogenation processes, using molecular hydrogen, leading to the formation of high-value chemicals such as vitamin and drug precursors. The planned research will allow creating a relationship between the structure of catalysts and their reactivity in these processes. Catalytic tests will be conducted in a continuous flow mode, which greatly simplifies the process and allows large-scale reactions to be carried out, using different substrates in the sequence, on the same catalyst, thus limiting its amount used. Student will be involved in the synthesis of monometallic and bimetallic catalysts, their thoroughly characterization by physicochemical methods and their investigation in the continuous - flow hydrogenation process. MSc student will be directly supervised by the leader of the project.
