The general goal of this project is the use of renewable energy sources to produce fuels such as hydrogen, methanol, formic acid, which can contribute to decrease of green house effect. Two key reactions will be studied namely water splitting and carbon dioxide reduction. In nature, these processes occur in biomembranes. Here, the gist of the proposal is to study these reactions at polarized liquid | liquid interfaces supported on a solid electrode. In this way three phase junctions: electrode | liquid | liquid are formed.
