From March 8th to 9th, 2013, 28 young scientists from the University of Cambridge (UC) from research groups headed by Professors: Oren Scherman, Dominic Wright and Andrew Wheatley took part in the 1st Warsaw – Cambridge Young Scientist Meeting organized by IPC PAS. The visit was a part of the twinning agreement included in Task 5.1 „Exchange of know-how and experience through twinning and networking (visits)” of NOBLESSE project between the University of Cambridge and the Institute of Physical Chemistry PAS. Subject matter of the meeting included such topics as: dynamic hydrogels, supramolecular hybrid materials, design and synthesis of functional nanosystems, nanomaterials for catalysis and biomedical applications, functionalization of metal oxide nanoparticles, MOFs preparations and their post synthetic modification.
   At the IPC PAS young scientists from the UC also met the leaders of research groups, among others of Professor Lewiński, Professor Piotr Garstecki and Professor Marcin Fiałkowski, and visited the of-the-art laboratories and the research equipment at our Institute.

Dr. Jarosław Kempczynski from McKinsey & Company Poland, Member of Advisory Board Noblesse - "Lesson Learned from Management Consulting Firm Approach", a lecture in a series "Boundaries between scientific institutions and Venture Capital / Small and Medium Enterprises, ways to communicate science to VC/SME, ways to commercialization of scientific inventions"  

Dr. Yong Sun and M.Sc. Richard Bailey visited the Institute of Physical Chemistry PAS (IPC PAS) in Warsaw, Poland, on 1 through 7 July 2014. Dr. Y. Sun from the Department of Engineering, Media and Sustainable Development, Faculty of Technology, De Montfort University, Leicester (United Kingdom), is the Partner within NOBLESSE, Work Package WP3 “Chemo- and Biosensors - molecular imprinting”. For Dr. Y. Sun it was the second visit to the IPC PAS within the NOBLESSE Project. M.Sc. R. Bailey is employed in the Department of Engineering, Media and Sustainable Development, De Montfort University, led by Dr. Yong Sun. Research interests of Mr. R. Bailey focus on the electrochemical corrosion and tribocorrosion testing of surface engineered materials. This visit is considered as a further step towards strengthening the existing and developing new strategic partnership between Department of Electrochemistry, Corrosion and Applied Surface Science of IPC PAS and the Department of Engineering, Media and Sustainable Development, Faculty of Technology, De Montfort University. During his stay in IPC PAS, Mr. R. Bailey introduced us to the scientific issue, which he is interested in, by delivering a lecture entitled: "Corrosion and tribocorrosion response of surface engineered titanium".

M. Sc. Sunyik Ahn from the Departament of Chemistry, University of Bath (UK) visited the Institute of Physical Chemistry PAS in the period from 21 April to 2 May 2014. The ‘’Charge Transfer Processes in Hydrodynamic Systems’’ Group led by Dr. Martin Jönsson-Niedziólka hosted the visit. The purpose of the stay was to exchange experience and knowledge.

During the time 2013-08-01 – 2013-09-30 Dr. Palaniappan Subramanian from Interdisciplinary Research Institute in Lille, France, was visiting the Institute. The visit was a part of the twinning agreement between the Interdisciplinary Research Institute and IPC included in WP2 of NOBLESSE. The main purpose of the trip was to further explore the electrophoretic deposition method developed during the visit of Dr. Adam Leśniewski to Interdisciplinary Research Institute, the objective being modification of solid substrates with graphene oxide-metal nanocomposite and evaluation of their performance whilst using the same as a platform for sensing important biomolecules.

Dr. Andriei Gromov from School of Chemistry, University of Edinburgh (UK), visited the Institute from 2nd December 2013 to 6th December 2013. During the visit he met a number of members from the groups of Prof. Opałło (WP2) and Prof. Kutner (WP3) and had scientific discussions concerning possibilities and applications of sol-gel technologies, chemical functionalisation of surfaces and creation of materials with specific surface properties. Dr. A. Gromov also gave an extended talk dealing with his own expertise in the field of surface functionalisation of carbon materials and their potential applications.

Dr. Arnulf Rosspeitner visited the Institute of Physical Chemistry PAS in the period from 16 November to 02 December 2013. Dr. A. Rosspeitner from the Department of Physical Chemistry of University of Geneva (group of Prof. Eric Vauthey), is a Partner in the NOBLESSE project, Work Package WP4 "Biospectroscopy - platforms for molecular diagnostics". During the visit Dr. Rosspeintner had the opportunity to discuss several ongoing projects with Dr. Gonzalo Angulo and members of Photochemistry and Spectroscopy Department.

  During the period from 19 to 27 September 2013 Dr. Bernhard Lang from the Department of Physical Chemistry of University of Geneva (group of Prof. Eric Vauthey) visited Prof. Jacek Waluk and Dr. G. Angulo laboratories (WP4). During the visit Dr. Lang had the opportunity to discuss the incoming experiments regarding the influence of intensity of light in photoinduced bimolecular reactions and the possibilities and troubles to be encountered in a novel technique of double pulse excitation in fluorescence up-conversion, currently under development in our lab. Dr. Sara Dale from the University of Bath visited DEP IPC PAS for one week during the end of June. Dr. Dale's visit is a part of ongoing collaboration with the Marken group in Bath and the visit was mainly focussed on planning for future collaboration. One theme in particular concerned the electrochemistry of liquid|liquid junctions, an area where both the Bath group and DEP IPC PAS are active. Prof. Myrtil Kahn from the Laboratoire de Chimie de Coordination at CNRS in Toulouse visited the Institute of Physical Chemistry PAS from 11th to 24th of December 2012. The visit was a part of the twinning agreement between the Laboratoire de Chimie de Coordination at CNRS and the IPC PAS included in WP5 of the NOBLESSE project. Prof. Kahn is widely known for designing efficient organometallic pathways towards metal oxides nanoparticles and a development of NMR spectroscopy for the characterization of nanoparticles.

Prof. Patrizia R. Mussini and M.Sc. Valentina Bonometti from Department of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry, University of Milan (Milan, Italy) stayed in Poland from 3 till 6 November 2011. They gave lectures at the 5th International Workshop on Surface Modification for Chemical and Biochemical Sensing (SMCBS'2011) organized in Lochow under auspices of the IPC PAS. The title of Prof. Mussini's talk was "Inherently chiral conducting polymer electrodes" and that of Ms. Bonometti's was "Poly-CPDT films decorated with dinuclear Re(I) complex chromophore pendants: electrochemical and spectroscopic properties".
