The NMR laboratory in the Institute of Physical Chemistry started its service in March, 2007. It was founded on the base of two observations:
  - one realized that a scientific institution specialized in the field of physical chemistry, possessing no NMR laboratory is a unique phenomenon worldwide
  - only very few polish NMR laboratories have a decent equipment dedicated for solid state research.
Therefore, the NMR laboratory in the Institute of Physical Chemistry is being prepared for solid state research in possibly wide temperature range, with application of possibly wide spectrum of experimental techniques. The laboratory is equipped with 2 superconducting wide-bore magnets with magnetic fields of 7.04 and 11.74 T (300 and 500 MHz, respectively).

Configuration of the 500 MHz magnet:

  • 3-channel 4mm CP/MAS probehead working in the temperature range 130-420 K, in frequency range corresponding to isotopes 15N-31P
  • 2-channel 2.5mm CP/MAS probehead working in the temperature range 200-370 K, in frequency range corresponding to isotopes 15N-31P
  • 3 radiofrequency channels equipped with amplifiers of 1000, 1000 and 500 W, respectively
  • two 2-channel probeheads for liquid state measurements working in the temperature range 150-350K
  • sophisticated equipment for low temperature research (dewars, heat-exchangers, precooler, cryostat etc.) which allows for sample cooling for several days
Configuration of the 300 MHz magnet:
  • 2-channel 4 mm CP/MAS probehead working in the temperature range 170-420 K, in frequency range corresponding to isotopes 15N-31P
  • two 2-channel probeheads for liquid state measurements working in the temperature range 150-350K
  • 2 radiofrequency channels equipped with amplifiers of 300 and 100 W, respectively
  • sophisticated equipment for low temperature research (dewars, heat- exchangers, precooler etc.) which allows for sample cooling for several days.

The staff of the laboratory: dr. Piotr Bernatowicz, dr. Bohdan Kamieński, dr. Mariusz Pietrzak and prof. Sławomir Szymański.
